Today I want to relate something I experienced this morning that really floored me.
We — my wife and I — have been on Facebook for years, and on our combined page we’ve built up a list of friends, both new and old, totaling well over 400. Among them are friends from my hometown of Bethany, Missouri. That city is a bastion of Midwest conservative values — or so I thought until a brief exchange with one of those friends.
A little background. There was an organization that gave a voice to farmers in the 1950s and 1960s that was unprecedented in U.S. history. Called the National Farmers’ Organization (NFO), it began as an informal conversation between a couple Iowa farmers and came into national prominence under a egomaniac who become its president, named Oren Lee Staley.
Staley dreamed of conquering the presidency, and attempted to use the NFO as a jumping-off point. His ego defeated both the NFO and himself.
Nonetheless, the group attempted — and almost succeeded in its efforts — to unify U.S. farmers to use union tactics of collective bargaining and holding actions of product from the markets to drive up base prices. The failure was that not enough farmers nationwide were willing to go to the mat as were most Midwestern farmers.
Dad and this particular friend’s dad were organizers in Missouri for the NFO. They often traveled together, had the conservative views of Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower and both were WWII veterans.
Generational changes and years of Democrat lies and propaganda, however, have rendered that friend barely recognizable to her dad or me. She has drunk the blue Kool-Aid. Unfortunately, so have many, many others.
As have several of my high school classmates and those immediately preceding or following us, she lost sight of the values we were taught as children. She no longer remembers her history and she certainly doesn’t recognize what is happening to our country.
Many of you reading this are in the same position. Somehow, probably by constant exposure to the lies of the media and of the fascist/socialist Democrat Party, you utterly fail to see the danger we currently face.
As I write this, there are more troops surrounding the U.S. Capitol complex than we have in Iraq and Afghanistan combined, only a handful fewer than are based in Korea to guard against a flareup of a war that has never officially ended. Double security fences surround the Capitol Building and for blocks around the Mall, from the White House to the Washington Monument
For four years, the media has hated President Donald J. Trump and used every tactic at their disposal to discredit, minimize and undermine him and his agenda. They will not stop with him, and are now going after his supporters. (Photo: Jan Wellsley/AVC Reports)
I urge all of my friends who have allowed themselves to be duped by the fascist-socialist Democrats and their lapdog media, please pause and rethink.
In addition to our own “Green Zone” in the U.S. Capitol complex, we are seeing more than an extraordinary display of censorship of political viewpoints We also see extreme vitriol toward a select group of Americans, of government- and media-manufactured lies that have brainwashed a gullible and uninformed electorate.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Amazon and other Big Tech companies have endorsed this new dynamic. Together they are collaborating to completely silence conservative views. They have mobilized to subvert the First Amendment rights of half of all Americans. They will "deplatform" conservative media. Next, they will come for our guns, then they will close our churches. Afterward, we will be prevented from lawful assembly. Finally they will claim we have no grievances, much less hear them, as they will have completely demonized us as subversive, seditious and committed to insurrections.
Perhaps you will be satisfied that Trump supporters and conservatives are silenced, but I warn you, they will not stop with us.
I said this is extraordinary, and in U.S. history, it is as a constitutional republic. It is, however, not foreign to recent world history. This is exactly what Nazi Germany, the first socialist-fascist state, did to its own people, those Jews living in that war-torn, economically decimated country.
Think it can’t happen here? It already is. We are perilously close to seeing a Nazi-like police state in the United States of America.
Where is our own Martin Niemöller, who wrote, following a meeting with Adolph Hitler in 1934, the following?:
First, they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.
You have been warned. I doubt many of you will heed that warning. Not until, as the Nazis ultimately did for Martin Niemöller and his contemporary Lutheran pastor, Dieterich Bonhoeffer, they come for you. May you fare better than I am sure most of us will.
