Almost no one on the Left understands what needs to be done during this nation's war on the Wuhan virus. From AOC wanting "reparations for black and brown people" — claiming the virus is hitting their neighborhoods harder than white neighborhoods — to Speaker Pelosi forming a redundant "oversight commission" of the administration's response, their priorities are incredibly out of touch with reality.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has called for coronavirus reparations for minorities, claiming higher numbers of COVID-19 fatalities in low-income communities stems from underlying inequality.
“COVID deaths are disproportionately spiking in Black + Brown communities,” Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) tweeted to her 6 million followers on Friday morning.
Also Friday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told reporters on a conference call she was forming a Select Committee, headed by Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC), that will oversee the Trump administration’s ongoing response to the crisis.
That was less than 24 hours after she announced she was going to form yet another Select Committee to “watch over” the $2.2 trillion dollar relief package passed by Congress last week. That move is an unnecessary redundancy, as the package set up three oversight commissions to monitor the spending.
Political groups are betting voters in swing states can be influenced by online ads about Donald Trump’s response to the pandemic — primarily criticism from Democrats. For example, in a Facebook ad near the end of February, pro-Democrat Super Pac American Bridge characterized Trump’s response as “neglectful, a botched response” and went on to repeat lies about cuts at the CDC. Efforts have been stepped up since then.
Some political strategists believe those ads are a bad idea and will ultimately backfire. With Trump’s approval rating soaring, and indications of a record turnout for the president, such attacks may only anger his constituency and make him that much stronger for the November election.
Then there is the media, who rush to duplicate their political masters in demonstrating the Leftist disconnect. At one of the Virus Task Force briefings this week, a reporter asked why illegal immigrants would not get checks from the $2.2 trillion dollar emergency relief package.

Claiming incorrectly that over five million immigrants in this country do pay taxes through their IT numbers will not receive any money in the stimulus package, the reporter asked the president why no undocumented immigrant will receive any aid from the government during the crisis.
“Well, you know, you’re saying ‘undocumented,’ meaning they came in illegally,” Trump answered. “A lot of people would say we have a lot of citizens right now that won’t be working, so what are you going to do? It’s a tough thing.”
Illegal immigrants, Trump added, have put themselves in a sad and difficult situation.
“It’s a very sad question, I must be honest with you, but they came in illegally and we have a lot of people that are citizens of our country that won’t be able to have jobs,” he said.
Illegal immigrants currently make up an estimated 4.6 percent of the U.S. workforce, totally about 7.6 illegals out of the estimated 22 million at least attempting to be productive.
Legal immigrants — those with green cards, as well as the hundreds of thousands of people in the country under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program — will receive the stimulus payments because of their legal status. The United States allows over 1 million people to legally immigrate into the country per year.
Today’s Democratic Party is increasingly perceived as dominated by its “woke” left wing. But the views of Democrats such as Pelosi, AOC +3, and the Hollywood elite bear little resemblance to those of the wider Democrat electorate.
It is the core of the electorate the Democrats still claim — hard-working blue-collar middle-class Americans — that most resents the Party’s embrace of illegal immigrants. Those U.S. workers see the illegal population as coming in to either get benefits all Americans have to pay for, or who take away the skilled labor jobs that very middle class has always filled.
Men and women in that alleged Democrat core will not take kindly to the Party attempting to give money to people who don’t, in their eyes, deserve it. That very middle class are the people who are sending President Trump’s approval and popularity ratings at or above 60 percent, as they see the Democrat Party abandon them.
