If you gave up your freedom to speak, what symbol might the government give you to wear?

The Wuhan coronavirus is real.

The response to the coronavirus is hyped. And in time, this hype will be revealed as politically hoaxed.

In fact, COVID-19 will go down as one of the political world’s biggest, most shamefully overblown, overhyped, overly and irrationally inflated and outright deceptively flawed responses to a health matter in American history, one that was carried largely on the lips of medical professionals who have no business running a national economy or a government.

The facts are this: The Wuhan coronavirus is a real disease that sickens some, proves fatal to others, mostly the elderly — and does nothing to the vast majority.

That, in a nutshell, is it.

Or, in the words of Dan Erickson and Artin Massihi, doctors and co-owners of Accelerated Urgent Care in Bakersfield, California: Let’s get the country reopened — and now.

“Do we need to still shelter in place? Our answer is emphatically no. Do we need businesses to be shut down? Emphatically no. … [T]he data is showing it’s time to lift,” Erickson said in a YouTube post that has since been deleted.

The reason: It supposedly violates the website's terms of service. Don't dare contradict the official narrative, even if it's fraudulent. Nonetheless, they’re right. The data to keep America closed and Americans locked down simply doesn’t exist. Truth be told, it is questionable it ever did.

The scientists leading the coronavirus shutdown charge predicted in March that in America, between 100,000 and 250,000 would die. They based those estimates on computer modeling.

“I’ve never seen a model of the diseases I’ve dealt with where the worst-case actually came out,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a member of President Donald Trump’s White House coronavirus task force, during a CNN interview in March. “They always overshoot.”

Catch that? Fauci’s message: Computer models are flawed and inaccurate and always overestimate the problem.

But from these faulty overinflated computer figures came all the constitutionally questionable actions by government anyway — from ordering businesses closed to quarantining-slash-house-arresting American citizens to doing some quick, pitiful and economically painful income redistribution schemes via stimulus funds’ legislation.

Since, about 63,000 have died in America due to coronavirus — whereas, if the United States had used the Swedish model, total deaths from the Wuhan coronavirus would probably be around 100,000, but our economy wouldn’t be in the tank.

Even those numbers aren’t accurate, though. While there are about 63,000 Wuhan coronavirus deaths at this writing, there is an unreported death toll out there directly related to the restrictions our governments have imposed on us.

For example, calls to suicide hotlines in California have spiked 37 percent since stay-at-home orders were issued in the state. Domestic violence calls in Kansas City, Missouri have risen by 34 percent during the social distancing directives there.

Deaths due to alcohol and drug abuse have increased nearly 50 percent across the country since March 17 when President Trump and his task force issued their stay-at-home guidelines for states and local governments.

The bottom line is that we have lost far more than the 100,000 people who were expected to perish from the Wuhan coronavirus. In short, stay-at-home orders, business closing at government directive and social distancing in general have utterly failed to accomplish their goals.

As Drs. Erickson and Massihi said, it is not just possible, but absolutely necessary to reopen American. We can protect the elderly by urging them to stick with the current restrictions, plus avoiding contact with young people whenever possible. Again, the rest of the population can and should be allowed to move above freely to work, shop and recreate.

President Trump, the U.S. governors and many other world leaders were given very bad information from the medical mathematical model builders about the number of expected deaths from the virus (upwards of two million in the United States) even using Swedish light-touch restrictions.

Political leaders and unquestioning members of the press panicked when given the flaky two million number. The result: Very bad decisions, where the costs greatly exceeded the benefits, and hurt most everyone, particularly the young.

Members of the political class and the media who flamed the hysteria, ought to apologize, particularly to those under 24 who are needlessly suffering not only now, but from unnecessary debt burdens they will endure for decades.

Yet there were more than a few who were prepared to take advantage of the situation. Why?

Power, purely and simply. For example, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, has obviously retaliated against the backlash from her citizens aimed her highly restrictive, neo-Nazi-like, muscle-flexiing orders by needlessly extending through the end of May.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, also a Democrat, is demanding Washington bail out his state to the tune of $30 billion. He even had the gall to raise the old and discredited argument that, as a so-called “blue state,” New York sends more tax money to D.C. than they receive back in block grants to fund state-orchestrated federal programs.

Multibillionaire and Microsoft founder Bill Gates has pushed for cards to be issued to those who can establish they are immune to the virus. He and Dr. Fauci have joined the elite club of unelected deniers of freedom in the U.S.

What better way to keep a reluctant public docile when you grab for money and power than to scare the hell out of them and tell them if they don’t stay home, they are going to die? Obviously, it has been a pretty effective strategy, strengthened by the additional assault on our personal liberties.

Democrats, both elected and not, have proven they are not “new progressives” during this crisis. They are more accurately described as the New Gestapo. Maybe this was a trial run rather than an actual grab for control to remake the U.S. in the old Nazi image.

Now that we’ve seen it, it should be easy for nearly all of us to reject it. In an expletive-filled rant, Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk called the current situation "fascist."

He is right. It is time to put this nonsense to an end. That is, unless you want to live like this for the rest of your lives.
