There is no doubt. Patriots must plainly see that our liberty and freedom is more at risk right now, today, than ever before since our nation was founded.
One other thing is just as abundantly clear: Any vote for any Democrat, at this time, is a vote to end liberty.
Let me state for the record, I have, throughout my life, dismissed paranoid conspiracy theories on both side of the political spectrum. Warnings from both the Right and the Left that the other side is fomenting sedition, treason or a whole-cloth remake of the fabric of the United States of America have always fallen on deaf ears with me.
Not that I have ever believed there is a permanent guarantee of liberty in the U.S. Being an amateur historian and the essential pessimist regarding the human condition, I never believed that. But the ease with which police state tactics have been employed and the equal ease with which most Americans have accepted them without so much as a whimper is deeply disturbing.
Perhaps you would declare that such oppressive tactics is defensible during the supposedly unique threat the Wuhan coronavirus poses to the public. Some data available in public venues indicates, however, the virus is far more widespread and less deadly than first thought. Therefore, the extreme measures of shutting down the economy and quarantining everyone in their homes may have been unnecessary.
I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt for the initial reaction by the nation’s health authorities. The Wuhan coronavirus was a complete unknown. It's potential to kill seemed far above that of any seasonal flu since 1918-19.
However, as it has become obvious that the Wuhan coronavirus is not the deadly threat it was initially believed, two dozen Democrat governors across the country have kept, or in some cases increase, so-called “precautions” that have brought us to the brink of an American police state.

If you need evidence of a police state dress rehearsal, I can provide it.
Los Angeles Mayor Gil Garcetti, a Democrat, said infamously last week that the city cannot fully reopen until there is a cure. (There will never be a cure, only a vaccine for prevention.)
Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) extended his state’s lockdown order to June 5 despite deaths, hospitalizations and new cases being in decline for eight straight days. Michiganders are openly protesting and some are ignoring the extended Nazi-like restrictions issued by another Democrat, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
These are the makings of a police state, irrational and power-stoked decrees that do nothing for public health but do everything for 1) the leaders' egos and, 2) the foundation of a police state.
A “police state” does not necessarily mean the establishment of a totalitarian regime. America is not a totalitarian state, at least for now. We still have many freedoms. This article could not be posted In a totalitarian state. Illegally publishing it would result in my arrest, a show trial and lengthy imprisonment or execution.
Nonetheless, we are currently living under all four of the key hallmarks of a police state:
First, we have multiple draconian laws across many states and jurisdictions that violate the Constitution by depriving citizens of our elementary civil rights.
For one, travel and free speech are virtually the only freedoms not restricted by various federal, state, county and city governments.
We cannot go to work, thus depriving us of earning a living. We cannot meet in groups, thus curbing our First Amendment rights of freedom to assemble peaceably. We cannot go to church to worship and pray, not even in our cars in the parking lot with the windows up. We can’t even go to parks or the lakes and beaches, individually and certainly not in groups.

Second, the mass media is acting as a state-owned propaganda organ, promoting the wisdom and authority of the State in robbing us of our rights. Only Fox News, The Wall Street Journal and the vast majority of talk radio have not kowtowed to the cause of state control over individual Americans’ lives as have The New York Times, CNN, MSNBC and the other alphabet networks.
For those too young to remember the old Soviet Union, the communist regime certified only two news outlets: Pravda, the state print media, and TASS, the wire service, radio and television media. The reality is, TASS and Pravda likely voiced as much “dissent” as the The Times, The Washington Post and others recently in opposition to the current police state tactics — which is to say, almost none.
Thirdly, there is the use of local and state police to enforce these orders and edicts. With a near-eagerness that should frighten us all, local law enforcement across the country have enforced these measure, seemingly without question.
Dennis Prager, author, commentator and Constitutional lawyer, highlighted the alacrity with which police have joined the police state.
“After hearing me describe police [issuing] summonses ... or even arresting people for playing baseball with their children on a beach, jogging alone without a mask, or worshiping on Easter while sitting isolated in their cars in a church parking lot,“ Prager said on his Friday radio program, “a police officer called my show. He explained that the police have no choice. They must respond to every dispatch they receive.
“And why are they dispatched to a person jogging on a beach or sitting alone in a park?” Prager asked.
The officer responded that it was because the department was informed about “these lawbreakers.”
“And who told the police about "these lawbreakers"?” Prager asked. His answer brings us to the fourth characteristic of a police state:
Snitching is being encouraged by some jurisdictions, like the old East German informers to the Stasi secret police. Perhaps 1 in 100 Americans are willing to snitch on their neighbors. (Photo: Ivan Pisarenko/AFP via Getty Images)
Governments are encouraging snitches, just like the old line communist and fascist regimes in Leftist Europe two to four generations ago. Snitches, who might be your neighbor or even your friend, inform police of families playing softball in the park or in their own yard, joggers without face masks, churches holding parking lot worship services.
In New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio even opened a “snitch line” to take calls from the public wanting to inform on their neighbors. He also set up social media sites where the snitches could post photos of the “perpetrators” being normal people in defiance of his Fascist lockdown orders.
Fortunately — and hilariously — the snitch line and its affiliated social media got filled up with curse words and pornography, with just a few actual snitch calls.
During the East German communist reign, about one percent of the East German people were informers for the Stasi — the Secret Police. Though it would be difficult to get statistics from the City, I believe we would find a similar number of New York’s eight million denizens would be willing to snitch on their neighbors. That's 80,000 people.
Many, by some convoluted twisted thought process, may presume that de Blasio's “deputizing” snitches across the city to serve a Stasi-like role was morally justified given the coronavirus pandemic. Even so, you would be in grave error to claim it is not similar to Nazi Fascist tactics to control the population.
Neither can you legitimately deduce that, other than identifying spies during World War II, this is unprecedented in American history at anywhere near the current rate of occurrence..
Why do I label this a dress rehearsal for a police state?
Too many Americans appear completely untroubled by it. The dominant force in America, the Left, supports it, and one of the two major political parties has been taken over by the Left.
Democrats and their supporters have, in effect, announced they will use state power to enforce any law they can to combat the even greater “existential” crisis of global warming.
On the CNN website this weekend, in one of the most frightening and fanatical articles in an era of fanaticism, Bill Weir, CNN chief climate correspondent, wrote an open letter to his newborn son. In it, he wrote of his idealized future for America: “completely new forms of power, food, construction, transportation, economics and politics.”
You cannot get there without a police state. And you cannot believe that the end of the Wuhan coronavirus will be the end of the police state. The next incarnation will not be a dress rehearsal, it will be for real.
